Holy Spirit Baltimore

“Share with everyone in the Church the grace of baptism in the Holy Spirit.” — Pope Francis

IMMERSED IN THE SPIRIT – the image evoked by baptism is more than just getting a bit wet, it is actively seeking Him to perform supernatural changes in us as only He can do, akin to foods being marinated or pickled. Scripture says we have died with Jesus and have risen with Him. That is a huge change.  For a “working definition of baptism in the Holy Spirit” click here.

One of the best ways to discover what is possible in the realm of possible gifts that the Holy Spirit might have for you is to “hang-out” with people who manifest gifts, and they can offer practical steps to develop what they have experiences and pray for you to have what they have.

7-minute excerpt of Archbishop Lori's Pentecost Homily

Actively Seeking More of Holy Spirit

Play Video

Archbishop Lori describes how, for many, the teaching of the Church regarding the Holy Spirit is a “Dead Letter”. He goes on to encourage the seeking of “Extraordinary Manifestations” of the Spirit that some consider “too wild and wooly”. He quotes Pope St. John Paul II encouraging seeking of “Charismatic Dimension” and states that this is needed in our Church today, to make it alive. He insists that we will not be able to evangelize our current society with just logic, but we need to be transformed from teachers into witnesses. He concludes by saying, “Only in the Holy Spirit will we renew the face of the earth. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. Amen. Alleluia”
